Howard promoted to head coach at IUPUI

IUPUI has promoted Todd Howard to head coach of the men's basketball coach.

Howard succeeds Ron Hunter, who took the Georgia State job last month after 17 seasons in Indy.

Hunter advocated for the promotion of Howard, who spent 16 seasons as his assistant. In 2001, he was given the title of associate head coach.

The Louisville native played college ball for his hometown Cardinals and spent one season as a student assistant on Denny Crum's staff.

The school will introduce Howard and Austin Parkinson, the women's coach, at a news conference Monday. Parkinson, a Purdue alum, replaced the fired Shann Hart in September.
