Houston Baptist beats crosstown rival Rice 77-73

HOUSTON (AP) Anthony Odunsi scored 26 points on 15-of-16 shooting from the free-throw line and Houston Baptist beat crosstown rival Rice 77-73 on Wednesday night to snap a four-game losing streak.

Trailing 64-62, Houston Baptist went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by Odunsi's 3-pointer, to take a 69-64 lead. Houston Baptist made all eight of its free throws in the final minute, with six from Odunsi.

Odunsi made two free throws with 53.4 seconds left for a 71-68 lead. Marcus Evans made a contested layup to make it 71-70 and, after four free throws by Houston Baptist, hit a 3-pointer from straight away for 75-73 with 1.9 left. Odunsi sealed it at the line.

Colter Lasher had 15 points and seven rebounds for Houston Baptist (2-5). Reveal Chukwujekwu and Josh Ibarra added 10 points apiece.

Marcus Evans led Rice (2-6) with 28 points and Egor Koulechov added 21.
