Hofstra 68, Georgia St. 67

Greg Washington made jumper with 16.6 seconds left to lift Hofstra past Georgia State 68-67 on Friday in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.

Hofstra (19-13), who has won seven straight and 10 of their last 11 games, will face Northeastern in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

The Panthers (12-20) cut the lead to 40-37 before Hofstra used a 10-2 spurt to take a 50-39 lead with 10:37 left. The Panthers tied the game at 55-55 with 5:46 left.

Charles Jenkins scored the next nine Pride points. But Ousman Krubally outdid him with 10 consecutive points, giving Georgia State a 65-64 lead on a pair of free throws with 2:03 left.

Szabos and Joe Dukes traded baskets as Georgia State held a one point lead, until Washington's jumper. The Panthers could have pulled ahead, but lost the ball in the lane as time expired.
