High Point tops UNC Asheville 78-67
HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) John Brown scored 26 points and Devante Wallace added 20 Saturday night as High Point beat UNC Asheville 78-67.
Brown shot 11 of 16 from the field and scored 20 points in the first half. The Panthers (7-12, 3-3 Big South) were outshot by the Bulldogs 52.3 percent (23 of 44) to 50.8 percent (31 of 61), but were hurt by 19 turnovers to High Point's eight.
Asheville (10-10, 4-2) took an 11-8 lead on a 3-pointer by Sam Hughes, but High Point got in front 25-22 on free throws by Anthony Lindauer, then pulled away on a 15-2 run to lead 45-31 at halftime.
Asheville clawed back in the second half, making it an eight-point game at 6:24 on a 3-pointer by Andrew Rowsey, but got no closer.
Jaron Lane led the Bulldogs with 20 points, Rowsey scored 13 and Corey Littlejohn 10.
