Harvard 75, Mercer 69

Christian Webster made 12 of 15 free throws and finished with a career-high 29 points to lead Harvard to a 75-69 victory over Mercer on Saturday.

Webster was 7 for 11 from the field and hit 3 of 4 3-pointers, giving him the most points for a Harvard (2-1) player since Jeremy Lin scored 30 at Connecticut last season.

Behind Webster's 19 points in the first half, the Crimson took a 37-27 lead at the break.

Turnovers plagued Harvard early in the second half as Mercer opened with a 15-2 run to take a 42-39 lead. Keith Wright converted a three-point play with 14:39 to go to push Harvard ahead 44-42. The Crimson never trailed again and led by as many as 10.

Brandyn Curry added 13 points and Laurent Rivard had 12 points for Harvard.

Jeff Smith led Mercer (1-2) with 20 points, while Brandon Moore added 14 and Brian Mills 12.

Harvard is now 4-0 against Mercer.
