Grayson Allen explains why he has no regrets about returning to Duke this season

This season hasn’t gone exactly as planned for Duke guard Grayson Allen. From the Coach K-imposed suspension, the tripping issues, the nagging ankle injury and the barrage of boos from the opposing teams’ fans, Allen is probably second-guessing his decision to return for his junior season, right?

Wrong.

Despite all the setbacks and a seven-point dip in his scoring average, Allen doesn’t regret a thing, as he told ESPN prior to the second-seeded Blue Devils’ first-round matchup against Troy in the NCAA Tournament on Friday.

"I knew with the decision I made, once I made it, I was going to live with it," Allen told ESPN. "Obviously, I haven't had the season I'd like to have. A lot of things out of my control happened. I didn't know I was going to get injured three games into the year, reinjured later and all stuff happen in the middle.

"For me, I'm making best of the situation. I didn't come back for personal goals, I came back to be in the spot I am right now and trying to make another run for a national championship, and I'm still able to do that. So there's no regrets there."

Allen hasn’t announced his plans for the future – his decision whether to pursue the NBA could depend on Duke’s tournament performance and his seemingly damaged draft status after a rough 2016-17 season – but he is clearly determined to end this season on a positive note.
