Georgia St. 59, Hofstra 43

Devonta White scored 15 points and Georgia State clamped down defensively in the first half of a 59-43 victory over Hofstra Saturday in Colonial Athletic Association action.

The Panthers (16-8, 8-5) led 33-18 at halftime, holding Hofstra (8-17, 2-11)) to eight baskets in the first half. The Pride was 8 for 29 from the floor (27.6 percent). Hofstra finished 17 for 58 (29.3 percent). Georgia State hit 21 of 41 field goal attempts (51.2 percent).

The Pride, which lost for the fifth time in six games, made just 3 of 22 treys (13.6 percent). Georgia State was an efficient 7 of 16 from the arc, with White hitting 3 treys and Rashaad Richardson (12 points) 4 of 8.

Eric Buckner blocked six shots to go with his 12 points for Georgia State and Jihad Ali added 11 points. Nathaniel Lester led Hofstra with a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double.
