Frazier scores 25, Tulane beats Temple 85-75 (Dec 28, 2017)

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Melvin Frazier scored 25 points with seven assists, Cameron Reynolds added 17 points with 10 rebounds, and Tulane pulled ahead early and held on to beat Temple 85-75 in an American Conference opener on Thursday night.

Blake Paul scored 12 points and Ray Ona Embo added 11 for the Green Wave (10-3), which shot 54 percent from the floor (31 of 57) to Temple's 45 percent (30 of 67) and made 19 free throws to their 11.

Shizz Alston Jr.'s 3 capped a 9-2 run and Temple closed to 45-40 with 15:56 to play, then to 56-52 on Quinton Rose's 3 with 11:06 left. Frazier hit a 3 amid an 11-4 run for a 71-62 Tulane lead and the Green Wave scored 11 unanswered points in the final 56 seconds.

Paul's free throw tied it at 2 and sparked a 7-0 run and the Green Wave led 38-29 at halftime.

Alston and Rose scored 17 apiece for the Owls (7-5), Josh Brown added 14 and Nate Pierre-Louis a career-high 11 with three steals.
