Florida Gators Basketball: Kasey Hill Dramatically Improves Legacy Against Kentucky

Kasey Hill joined the Florida Gators with mountains of hype. Against the Kentucky Wildcats, he improved his legacy with a performance to remember.

In the world of college sports, a victory in a rivalry game can often be as significant as a championship. The latter would clearly mean more to the Florida Gators, but on Saturday, Feb. 4, the former came to fruition.

With what may have been the best performance of his four-year career, Kasey Hill simultaneously led Florida to victory and dramatically improved his legacy.

When the Gators landed Hill, many expected him to take the reins and lead Florida to a national championship. He was a consensus Top 10 recruit who had the tools to become a college basketball superstar.

Matched up against a national powerhouse in the No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats, Hill took over and led Florida to its biggest win of the season.

In a game against the most star-studded backcourt in the country, Hill was the best player on the floor.

Hill went off for 21 points, six assists, five rebounds, one block, and a steal in 27 minutes of action. He sank a three-point field goal and four free throws, and converted at an efficient clip of 8-of-16 from the field.

Matched up against the likes of Isaiah Briscoe, De’Aaron Fox, and Malik Monk, Hill was nothing short of outstanding.

As a result of his stellar showing, Florida snapped a five-game losing streak against Kentucky.

Hill was on pace to be remembered as an underachiever, but this game was of undeniable aid to his reputation. He’s ascending the Gators’ all-time statistics lists and has Florida on pace to reach the 2017 NCAA Tournament.

Following the signature victory over the No. 8 Wildcats, the Gators are 18-5 overall and 8-2 in a competitive SEC.

If Kasey Hill can help the Florida Gators maintain this winning pace, his senior season could define his legacy.
