Felix Balamou suspended indefinitely for NCAA violation

For the second time this week, St. John's received an unfavorable decision from the NCAA regarding a player's eligibility.

The school announced on Friday, hours before the Red Storm tip off against Wagner, that senior guard Felix Balamou was suspended indefinitely for an unspecified NCAA violation. 

“We understand Felix’s disappointment and we are here to support him,” St. John’s general counsel and interim athletic director Joseph Oliva, Esq said in a statement. “St. John’s will work in concert with the NCAA through the reinstatement process.”

Earlier this week, freshman guard Marcus LoVett Jr. was ruled a partial qualifier, meaning he can practice, but not play this season. Oliva. urged LoVett's family to appeal.

Balamou appeared in 22 games last season, averaging 1.3 points per game. The Conakry, Guinea native was one of three holdovers for new head coach Chris Mullin.
