Ex-Creighton star charged with rape to rehab in Philly

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) A Nebraska judge is allowing former Creighton basketball star Maurice Watson Jr. to travel to his hometown of Philadelphia to rehabilitate his knee even though he's charged with first-degree sexual assault in Omaha.

The Omaha World-Herald reports that Watson was ordered Wednesday by a Douglas County District Court to stay at his parent's house in suburban Philadelphia when he's not receiving treatment. Watson injured his left knee in January and had surgery in Philadelphia on Feb. 6.

A 19-year-old Creighton student has accused Watson of sexual assaulting her Feb. 4. He is out of jail on a $75,000 bond. Creighton has banned Watson from campus.

The Bluejays play Rhode Island in the NCAA Tournament in Sacramento, California, on Friday.
