Elon scores eight points in 16 seconds, forces overtime and beats Kennesaw State
Kennesaw State was up by 89-81 with 16 seconds left in regulation, and somehow lost by double-digits.
Elon erased the eight-point deficit to force overtime before landing a 103-93 victory on Monday night at home.
Luke Eddy was given a layup to start the run, as the Owls were willing to surrender two points instead of potentially committing a foul (although, that would come later).
On the ensuing possession, Kennesaw State's Nigel Pruitt missed two free throws. That is where Murphy's law kicked in to full force.
A baseline 3-pointer from Elon's Dainan Swoope made it a one-possession game, 89-86, with 4.8 seconds in regulation. The Phoenix then stole the Kennesaw State in-bounds pass. Eddy drove to the baseline, behind the arc and drew a controversial foul. He went to the line to sink all three free throws to tie the score with 1.3 seconds left.
Elon improved to 4-3 on the season. Kennesaw State dropped to 1-7.
