East Tennessee State's Steve Forbes agrees to new contract
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) East Tennessee State coach Steve Forbes has signed a new contract that includes an extension and a pay raise.
Athletic director Scott Carter announced Forbes' new deal Monday.
Forbes' annual pay increases from about $450,000 to $650,000. The $650,000 includes a $200,000 annual retention bonus that takes effect July 1. His contract was extended by one year and now runs through the 2022-23 season.
The new deal includes a $500,000 buyout clause that the school would receive if Forbes leaves before his contract expires.
Forbes owns a 74-25 record in three seasons at ETSU, including a 50-13 mark over the last two seasons.
ETSU went 27-8 last year and earned its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2010. The Bucs are 23-5 and lead the Southern Conference this season.
