Duquesne 70, St. Bonaventure 64
B.J. Monteiro and Sean Johnson each scored 19 points as Duquesne held off St. Bonaventure 70-64 on Wednesday night.
Monteiro and Johnson came off the bench to shoot 15 of 26 from the floor (57.7 percent), while their teammates combined to shoot 14 for 36 (38.9 percent).
T.J. McConnell added 12 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and five steals for the Dukes (18-10, 10-5 Atlantic 10 Conference), who scored 26 points off 23 turnovers.
Duquesne led 63-62 with 1:24 left, but a 3 from Johnson and a layup from McConnell pushed its lead to 68-62 with 22 seconds on the clock.
Andrew Nicholson and Ogo Adegboye each scored 12 points for the Bonnies (15-13, 7-8), who shot 51.2 percent from the field (21 of 41). Matthew Wright added 11 points.
The Dukes shot just 4 for 22 from 3-point range (18.2 percent), but outscored St. Bonaventure 40-22 in the paint.
