Dunphy signs 8-year extension with Owls

Fran Dunphy has a new long-term deal with Temple.

Dunphy and the Owls agreed to an eight-year contract that could keep him with the program through the 2018 season. Dunphy just finished his fourth season as Temple's coach.

Financial terms of the extension were not disclosed Wednesday.

He's led the Owls to three straight NCAA tournaments, but has yet to win a game. Dunphy has also led Temple to three straight Atlantic 10 tournament championships.

Dunphy left Penn in 2006 to replace Hall of Fame coach John Chaney at Temple.
