Dunne, Lynch career days lift Hartford by Lowell 87-84 in OT (Feb 12, 2017)
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Jason Dunne scored 29 points, J.R. Lynch had 22, both career highs, and Hartford defeated Massachusetts Lowell 87-84 in overtime Sunday after blowing a 25-point, second-half lead.
Lynch hit a key 3-pointer from the right corner with 10.2 seconds left in regulation and, after Lowell went 1 of 2 at the line, he made a deep shot from the left wing as time expired that tied the game at 70. He also opened the overtime with a 3-pointer and made 3 of 4 free throws in the last 11.9 seconds to protect the lead.
Dunne had four 3s and 16 points in the first half when Hartford (8-19, 3-9 American East) shot 16 of 26 to open a 40-19 lead.
The River Hawks (11-17, 5-8) made 9 of 13 3-pointers and 16 of 29 overall in the second half and took the lead, which they kept until the buzzer, 63-60 on a trey by Ryan Jones with 3:35 to play.
Jones had two 3s, giving him a career-high eight for the game and 24 points, in OT but Jack Hobbs had back-to-back 3s for the Hawks as each team had three triples in OT.
