Delaware dominates Division II Wilmington 70-40
NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Ithiel Horton scored 14 points, Eric Carter had 12 with seven rebounds and Delaware never trailed in a 70-40 win against Division II Wilmington on Sunday.
At 4-1, the Blue Hens are off to their best start through five games since the 2003-04 season. Delaware also has won four straight for the first time since last December.
To start, Carter made a layup, Kevin Anderson and Collin Goss made back-to-back 3-pointers and Delaware was never challenged. The Blue Hens extended their lead to 22-6 and went to halftime with a 43-20 lead.
Delaware collected 17 assists on 27-made baskets, as its bench scored 29 points and owned a 45-34 rebounding advantage.
Anderson added 10 points and seven rebounds for Delaware.
Dawson Grinnage scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Wildcats. Wilmington made 17-of-64 shots (26.6), 2 of 25 from 3-point range and 4 of 6 from the foul line.
