Dabney's 22 help Tulane hold off Jackson State 56-49
NEW ORLEANS (AP) Louis Dabney scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half and Tulane made 9 of 10 free throws in the final 5 minutes to hold off Jackson State 56-49 on Monday.
Dabney made 7 of 8 from the foul line during that stretch and 12 of 15 overall. Jay Hook added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Green Wave (9-1).
Tulane extended a four-point lead to 53-44 with 2:52 to go. Jackson State (2-10) closed back to 54-49 on Javeres Brent's 3-pointer, but Dabney capped the scoring on a pair of free throws with 40 seconds left.
Tulane closed the first half on an 8-3 run to get to 25-18 at the break. Jackson State twice closed within four in the second half.
Raeford Worsham had 14 points to lead the Tigers, and Kaven Bernard added 11.
