Cuthbertson's 31 PTs boost C. Carolina past Iona 89-84 (Nov 19, 2017)
NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) For the second time in as many days, Zac Cuthbertson established a career high as he scored 31 points and missed just three of 14-shot attempts and Coastal Carolina downed Iona 89-84 on Sunday in day three of the Island of the Bahamas Showcase.
On Saturday, Cuthbertson established career highs in points and rebounds with 23 and 12 respectively in an 80-67 defeat against Vermont.
Iona led 78-76 with 2:17 to play when Rickey McGill made a 3-pointer. Cuthbertson followed suit doing the same thing 16 seconds later. McGill responded with a 3-point play off a layup with 1:38 to go and Matt Lindsey reduced Coastal Carolina's deficit to two (84-82) again with a 3-pointer. Demario Beck made a pair of layups, the second of which resulted in a 3-point play and the Chanticleers never trailed again. Cuthbertson added a pair of free throws to end the scoring.
Beck made all six of his shots and finished with 16 points, Lindsey and Artur Labinowicz each scored 13 and Jaylen Shaw had 10 for Coastal Carolina (3-2).
McGill finished with 23 points for Iona (1-4), Zach Lewis and E.J. Crawford each scored 14 and TK Edogi had 13.
