Coach Krzyzewski doesn't agree with President Obama's military strategy

Duke head basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski told a roomful of Army supporters last month that he did not agree with President Obama's military strategy against ISIS, the Daily Beast reported

While accepting an award from the Association of the U.S. Army, the Duke head coach publicly declared the Commander in Chief's proclamation that he won't use "boots on the ground" was a bad game plan, as it showed America's playbook to the opposing team.

"It's about letting your opponent know that we are going to use our best players. And whether we use them or not, that's up to the coach. You never tell your opponent you are not going to use [them], like I'm not going to play Grant Hill, J.J. Redick, Laettner. For the Olympics, 'Hey Spain, I'm not going to start Lebron and Kobe tonight.' I don't think you do that," he said. "Now how much I play 'em? Let the guy try to figure out how much I'm going to play."

Krzyzewski, a West Point grad and former Army Cadets coach, also told the roomful of Army supporters he didn't agree with President Obama's decision to keep the Army on the bench.

"I know it's upsetting to many of you when you hear 'no boots on the ground.' It upsets me too, because that's like saying I'm not going to play two of my best players," Krzyzewski said during his acceptance speech. "Because that's what you are trained to do. And for decades and decades, the fact that we are a free country and we don't play home games here is a result of having boots on the ground. That's the problem."

Not everyone in the Twitterverse was on board with the coach likening military policy to a basketball game:

Foreign policy aside, Krzyzewski made sure to express his appreciation for the troops.

"I want to thank you for the countless times your boots have been on the ground, and as a result it's given me an opportunity to live in a free country, to do what the hell I want to do, to coach the United States team, the Duke team, whatever," he said. "So on behalf of the ordinary people, we love you and thank you for doing that."

Krzyzewski is no stranger to publicly criticizing the President. After POTUS chose North Carolina to win the 2009 NCAA Tournament, the Duke head coach snarked, "the economy is something that he should focus on, probably more than the brackets."
