Carter and Kirk lead Ohio past Austin Peay 85-82 in OT

ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Jason Carter scored 25 points with 10 rebounds and Teyvion Kirk had 24 points and 10 boards and Ohio beat Austin Peay 85-82 in overtime on Saturday.

The Bobcats trailed 82-77 with 1:46 left in overtime when Austin Peay stalled, allowing two free throws each by Kirk and Gavin Block and a layup by Carter to give Ohio (2-2) the lead for good.

Block finished with 11 points and Antonio Cowart Jr. had 10 points with six rebounds.

The Bobcats had a 42-28 advantage at the break but the Governors (2-3) rallied early in the second half, tying it 56-all midway then going ahead 59-56 on a 3-point play by Chris Porter-Bunton with 8:37 left. The lead changed hands 11 times after that until Austin Peay's Dayton Gumm hit a jumper to tie it 77-all with three seconds left, forcing overtime.

Porter-Bunton scored 16 points with five rebounds and three steals for the Governors. Gumm and Zach Glotta added 15 points apiece.
