Canisius squares off against SBU

BOTTOM LINE: Saint Bonaventure and Canisius both look to put winning streaks together . Both teams won this past Saturday. Canisius earned an 83-81 win at home over Bucknell, while Saint Bonaventure won 80-74 over Rutgers.
STEPPING UP: The electric Malik Johnson has averaged 20 points, 5.7 rebounds and five assists to lead the way for the Golden Griffins. Complementing Johnson is Jacco Fritz, who is producing eight points and 5.3 rebounds per game. For the Bonnies, this will be a New York homecoming for freshman Dominick Welch, who is averaging 12.5 points and six rebounds. Kyle Lofton has also chipped in with 13.3 points and six assists per game.
SPARKING THE OFFENSE: Lofton has made or assisted on 49 percent of all Saint Bonaventure field goals over the last three games. Lofton has accounted for 14 field goals and 21 assists in those games.
STINGY DEFENSE: Canisius has forced opponents into committing turnovers on 26.8 percent of all possessions, the highest rate among all MAAC teams.
