Butler's Kellen Dunham, DePaul's Eli Cain earn Big East weekly honors
Butler senior guard Kellen Dunham was named Big East Player of the Week on Monday, leading the Bulldogs to a pair of victories.
On Wednesday, Dunham scored a game-high 24 points in a dramatic 78-76 road victory over No. 17 Cincinnati. Dunham helped the Bulldogs wrestle away the lead with under five minutes to play with back-to-back 3-pointers. The two sides would go back-and-forth before Roosevelt Jones game up with a game-winning bucket with 0.1 seconds remaining.
The 6-foot-4 guard followed that performance up with 19 points in an 85-71 win over Indiana State on Saturday. Dunham shot 65 percent from the field against the Bearcats and the Sycamores. Dunham is the leading scorer in the Big East at 21.3 points per game
DePaul guard Eli Cain earned Big East Freshman of the Week honors after scoring a season-high 20 points in the Blue Demons' 96-72 win over Chicago State on Saturday. Earlier in the week, the 6-foot-6 Cain scored 11 in an 82-55 victory over UIC.
On the season, Cain is averaging 8.6 points per game.
