Bruins' Nelson has surgery on retina
UCLA freshman forward Reeves Nelson has undergone laser eye surgery
to repair a slight tear in his retina.
The university says Nelson had the procedure Monday at UCLA's
Jules Stein Eye Institute.
Dr. Steven Schwartz says Nelson tolerated the procedure well.
He says the tear should not affect Nelson's ability to see the
court.
UCLA spokesman Ryan Finney says Nelson is not scheduled to
practice Tuesday. He will be re-evaluted Wednesday for Thursday's
game against Oregon State.
Nelson took a hard face-first fall after a dunk in the first
half of the Bruins' 71-51 victory at Washington State on Thursday.
He sustained a 2-inch cut above his right eye, requiring 15
stitches.
