Bracey, Powell lead Louisiana Tech past MVSU 96-80
RUSTON, La. (AP) — DaQuan Bracey had season highs of 24 points and eight assists and Oliver Powell scored a career-high 22 with seven rebounds to propel Louisiana Tech to a 96-80 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday night.
Bracey sank 7 of 11 shots, including two 3-pointers, and 8 of 9 free throws for the Bulldogs (8-3). Powell did his damage on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor and an 8-of-9 effort at the foul line. JaColby Pemberton pitched in with 13 points and 13 rebounds for his second double-double this season. Anthony Duruji added 12 points and three blocked shots.
Reserve Jordan Evans paced the Delta Devils (2-9) with 20 points, while Torico Simmons scored 17 with four assists. MVSU has lost three straight.
Louisiana Tech ran its win streak to four with its sixth straight victory at home. The Bulldogs beat the Delta Devils 83-65 in 1997 in their only other meeting.
