Bobbitt's late layup gives Hawaii 76-75 victory over Nevada
HONOLULU (AP) Roderick Bobbitt's layup with 1.4 seconds left spoiled Marqueze Coleman's career performance in the second half and gave Hawaii a 76-75 victory over Nevada in the championship game of the Rainbow Classic on Tuesday.
Bobbitt drove around Cameron Oliver and put the ball up high off the glass for the winning points after Coleman's layup on the other end. Coleman scored 32 of his career-high 34 points in the second half to lead the Wolf Pack back from a 16-point deficit.
Aaron Valdes scored 18 points to lead Hawaii (3-0), with Bobbitt, Sai Tummala and Smith each adding 10 points.
D.J. Fenner had 16 points, seven rebounds and two steals for Nevada (2-1), Tyron Criswell scored 10 points and Oliver had eight points to go with his 13 rebounds.
Valdes' 3-pointer with 16:10 left gave Hawaii its biggest lead, 46-30. But Coleman took over, scoring 32 of his team's final 45 points.
