Bo Ryan by the numbers

The headline on the Wisconsin Badgers athletic website read, "Thanks, Coach."

On Tuesday night, the winningest men's basketball coach in UW's history announced his retirement effective immediately.

"In recent weeks, I have come to the conclusion that now is the right time for me to retire," Bo Ryan said in his postgame news conference following a 64-49 home win vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

"I brought this up to (athletic director) Barry (Alvarez) back in April. He advised me to take some time to think it over and I appreciate that," Ryan said in a school release sent out after Tuesday's victory, which improved the Badgers to 7-5.

Ryan, who turns 68 on Sunday, was in the midst of his 15th season at Wisconsin. He steps down just eight months after the Badgers wrapped up a school-record 36-win campaign, which included a victory over then-unbeaten Kentucky in the Final Four and a loss to Duke in the national championship.

Ryan retires a legend. His Wisconsin career numbers don't lie.
