C.J. Reed had 17 points and hit the game-winning free throws with 24 seconds left as Bethune-Cookman rallied for a 61-60 victory over South Carolina State on Saturday.
Reed was fouled and hit both of his attempts for the Wildcats (12-9, 7-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who have won seven of their past eight games. Reed also had seven rebounds and six assists.
Reed's free throws were the only points for Bethune-Cookman in the final 2:52. Khalif Toombs missed a jumper with 5 seconds left for South Carolina State (5-15, 1-6), which has lost six straight.
Brandon Riley's 3-pointer gave the Bulldogs a 60-59 lead with 49 seconds left.
Stanley Elliott added 11 points for the Wildcats, who shot 50 percent from the field (13 of 26) in the second to rally from a seven-point halftime deficit.
Toombs scored 14 points and Riley added 12 for the Bulldogs.
