Ben Bentil will have X-ray on injured left ankle

Providence held on for a 66-51 win over Boston College on Wednesday night at home.

The Friars, who left by 14 at half, played the entire second half without the services of their two players, Kris Dunn and Ben Bentil.

Dunn left the game at halftime with an illness. Bentil beat Dunn to the locker room, limping off the court with less than two minutes to go in the first half.

Bentil caught a pass on the block and turned over his left shoulder for a right-handed hook. On the way down, he rolled his left ankle after landing on Dennis Clifford's foot.

Following the game, Providence head coach Ed Cooley said Bentil will get an X-ray on his left ankle, according to Kevin McNamara of the Providence Journal.

Bentil was on his way to his second double-double of the season when he injured his ankle, scoring 16 points and grabbing eight rebounds in 16 minutes. The 6-foot-9 sophomore had been on a tear as of late, averaging 21.8 points and 6.4 rebounds over his last five games.

“He’s sore,” Cooley said. “He’ll get an x-ray and hopefully he’s okay.”

Providence hosts in-state foe Bryant on Saturday at noon on FS1.
