Auburn Basketball Heads to the Garden to Face Boston College

Here we break down the latest game for Auburn basketball as they travel to take on Boston College at Madison Square Garden Monday night.

Auburn basketball will look to build off their huge road win over in-state rival UAB as they travel to New York to face Boston College at the famous Madison Square Garden.

Bruce Pearl has this group out to a hot 6-1 start with their only loss coming against a ranked Purdue team down in Cancun.

The Tigers have another opportunity to put a resume building win on the board against an ACC opponent in Boston College.

Last year the Eagles won just seven games all year, and went an impressive 0-18 in conference play – granted they play in one of the best basketball conferences in the country.

Still, it’s pretty difficult to not win a single conference game in basketball.

Things got off to a rough start this year as they lost their first regular season game to Nicholls State, but they bounced back and won three in a row. Then they lost to Kansas State and Richmond, both respectable opponents, before getting a win overt Dartmouth.

However, they’ve since lost to Harvard and Hartford, making them 4-5 on the season.

Sophomore guard Jerome Robinson has been by far their best player this year averaging 18.9 points per game, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists as well as a team-high 15 steals and 7 blocks.

Another sophomore guard, A.J. Turner, is having a pretty good season as well averaging 9.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4 assists per game.

The teams leading rebounds are forwards Connar Tava and Mo Jeffers averaging 5.8 and 6.3 rebounds per game respectively.

The Tigers won’t have any 7-footers to worry about in this game, so hopefully we’ll see some improvement on the boards for Auburn basketball.

More from Fly War Eagle

Boston College is averaging 70 points per game, and they are giving up 70 points per game.

When they’ve played good competition this year, they haven’t even made it to 60 points. I think Bruce Pearl gets back to turning up the pressure on defense and smothers the Eagles in this game.

The team has had a long break, so don’t expect them to come out on fire. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re a little cold in the first half.

Hopefully Mustapha Heron will attack the basket early and get to the free line until our shooters get into a rhythm.

I really want to see some progress from Horace Spencer and LaRon Smith in this game as they should be able to dominate down low. They’ve gone up against some big centers lately, but this is their chance to dominate the paint.

In all honesty, this needs to be an easy win for Auburn, and I think it will.

    Prediction: Auburn – 76 Boston College – 61
