You win some and lose some in recruiting, and despite the strong recruiting start for Sean Miller and the Arizona Basketball team, Wednesday the Wildcats lost out on a top recruit for 2017.

Lonnie Walker, the wing out of Reading, PA announced via social media that he would play for the Miami Hurricanes, despite offers from Arizona, Villanova, Kentucky and others.

Even with the bad news, the show must go on, and that is definitely what Miller will continue to do, just as he always does. Following Walker’s commitment to Miami, recruiting news started buzzing with the Wildcats moving on to another 2017 wing player in Brian Bowen from La Porte, IN.

Bowen is expected to decide in the coming weeks, once he visits the University of Texas. It is very possible he picks the Wildcats, and should he commit to Arizona, he will definitely add to an already strong class.

With four commits already in the 2017 class, Miller and the Wildcats have the ability to have one of their strongest classes in school history.

In addition to Bowen, Arizona of course is continuing to recruit highly rated center, Brandon McCoy from San Diego.

Recruiting for a top program like Arizona never stops, and the talent needs to come in just as much as it seems to leave.  This season’s team roster has one lone senior listed, Kadeem Allen, Miller’s leader for 2016/17. That’s why the Wildcats are also working on 2018 as well.

Granted the class is a long ways away to play, but the Wildcats are making progress in the class with highly touted guys like; Marvin Bagley, Shareef O’Neal (son of NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal), Emmanuel Akot and Brandon Williams among others.

O’Neal announced on Twitter that he would be taking an unofficial visit to Arizona this weekend. Would definitely be cool to see the son of the infamous ‘Shaq-tus’ playing basketball in the desert.

It is so exciting to see the class shaping up and we are anxious to see how things finish in this class, as well the other classes moving forward. One more big recruit and UCLA may sit at having the No. 2 class for next season, the Bruins sit at No.1 with the Cats at No. 2 for 2017. BearDown Coach Miller and Happy Birthday today November 16th, 2016!
