2024 college basketball transfer portal tracker: KSU gets Coleman Hawkins in NIL record

The 2023-24 men's college basketball season has come to an end, but players and teams across the country are still having to navigate the transfer portal, which opened on March 18.

Below is a running tracker of the biggest names to enter the transfer portal during the 2024 cycle.

This list is sure to grow in the coming days, so be sure to check back in for the latest updates!

Illinois F Coleman Hawkins to Kansas State

The most notable name remaining in the transfer portal has found his new home. Hawkins will transfer to Kansas State as part of a move that's believed to be the most lucrative name, image and likeness deal in college basketball history, The Athletic reported

Hawkins, who's entering his fifth season of eligibility, averaged 12.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.1 blocks per game for the Illini last season. He was named third-team All-Big Ten and helped Illinois win the Big Ten tournament before advancing to the Elite Eight.

Prior to committing to Kansas State, Hawkins entered the NBA Draft. However, he withdrew his name before touring schools to transfer to.

Utah State F Grant Osobor to Washington

Grant Osobor is following his coach to Seattle, committing to Washington on Monday, May 13. He will also make a good amount of money in the process, earning $2 million in name, image and likeness deals (NIL), ESPN reported. Osobor will reportedly be the highest-paid known player through NIL.

Osobor has spent the past three seasons with new Washington coach Danny Sprinkle, playing under him at Montana State before transferring to Utah State for the 2023-24 season. He scored 17.7 points and grabbed nine rebounds per game last year, helping the Aggies reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Seton Hall G Kadary Richmond to St. John's

After spending the past three seasons at Seton Hall, Richmond is going across the Hudson River to St. John's. Last season, Richmond averaged a career-high 15.7 points per game for the Pirates. He joins a St. John's program that's entering its second season with Hall of Fame head coach Rick Pitino.

Dayton G Koby Brea to Kentucky

Brea enjoyed a breakout junior season at Dayton. The 6-foot-7 sharpshooting guard averaged 11.1 points per game and shot 49.8% from beyond the arc, which led all Division I players. Brea joins a Kentucky program that's now spearheaded by former Wildcat big man Mark Pope.

Minnesota G Cam Christie

Following a standout freshman season in which he became the first Minnesota player to earn All-Big Ten freshman honors since Amir Coffey back in 2016-17, Christie has entered the portal. The former four-star recruit previously declared for the NBA Draft, and his decision to enter the portal allows him to keep his college options open. Christie, who is the younger brother of former Michigan State and current Los Angeles Lakers guard Max Christie, averaged 11.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists last season.

Arkansas F Trevon Brazile

After spending his freshman season at Missouri and the past two years at Arkansas, Brazile is hitting the transfer portal. The 6-foot-10 forward announced that he was entering the NBA Draft earlier last month and would not be returning to Arkansas. His decision to now enter the portal allows him to keep his options open while taking part in the draft process. Brazile started 23 games for the Razorbacks this past season while averaging 8.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

Former St. Mary's G Aidan Mahaney to UConn

Mahaney, one of the top guards available in the transfer portal, becomes the latest addition for the two-time defending champions. He fills a big void with Tristen Newton and Cam Spencer out of eligibility and Stephon Castle declaring for the NBA Draft after all three guards played crucial roles in UConn's successful national title defense last season. Mahaney seems destined to fill Spencer's role as a proven veteran entering after success elsewhere, especially against top competition such as Gaels archrival and West Coast Conference powerhouse Gonzaga, against whom Mahaney averaged nearly 20 points per game last season.

Former FAU C Vladislav Goldin to Michigan

Goldin, the 7-footer who was a key part of Florida Atlantic's deep NCAA Tournament run in 2023, has opted to pull out of the NBA Draft and instead will transfer to Michigan, according to ESPN. Goldin, who averaged 15.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks last season, will link back up with his former coach Dusty May, who replaced Juwan Howard as Michigan's coach this spring.

Former Alabama G Rylan Griffen to Kansas

After spending his first two seasons with Alabama, which reached the Final Four last season, Griffin transferred to Kansas. The Jayhawks were eliminated in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Griffen averaged 11.2 points per game last season. He was one of the top shooters in the portal, making 39.2% of his 3-point attempts last season.

Seton Hall G Kadary Richmond

Richmond earned first-team All-Big East honors this season after averaging 15.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists and leading the Pirates to the NIT championship. The 6-foot-6 guard transferred to Seton Hall after one season with Syracuse from 2020-2021, and started 85 games over three years. During the Pirates' postseason run, Richmond averaged 13.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists in the five NIT games. He is the eighth Seton Hall player to enter the transfer portal since the end of the season.

Oklahoma G Javian McCollum to Georgia Tech

The 6-foot-2 McCollum started all 30 games he played for the Sooners, averaging 13.3 points per game while hitting 40.4% from the field and 31.4% from 3-point range. He set a school record by connecting on 94.3% from the foul line, including a stretch of 39 consecutive free throws. McCollum played his first two college seasons at Siena and will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Yellow Jackets.

Purdue F Mason Gillis to Duke

Gillis' five seasons in West Lafeyette, which included a redshirt 2019-20 season and the pandemic-altered 2020-21 season, culminated in a 2023-24 campaign where the stretch four was named Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year after averaging 7.0 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in conference play while shooting 49% from three-point range. Gillis then played a vital role in the Boilermakers' Final Four win over NC State, nailing two three-pointers in quick succession to help thwart a Wolfpack comeback bid. He now prvides some needed depth to the Blue Devils' depleted frontcourt.

Former Florida Atlantic G Alijah Martin to Florida

Martin, who helped propel the Owls to the Final Four in 2023, is moving about 300 miles north to play at Florida.

The 6-foot-2 guard formally signed with the Gators on Monday and is expected to become an immediate starter for coach Todd Golden in Gainesville. He will replace Zyon Pullin, a first-team, all-Southeastern Conference point guard who averaged 15.5 points, 4.9 assists and 3.9 rebounds after transferring from UC Riverside.

Martin, a graduate transfer, has one year of eligibility remaining. He chose Florida over Alabama, Arkansas, Michigan, Mississippi and USC.

Duke G Jeremy Roach to Baylor

The 6-foot-2 senior is staying in college, announcing his transfer to Baylor on Sunday. Roach had also announced he was declaring for the NBA Draft when he entered the portal earlier in April.

This past season, Roach helped lead the Blue Devils to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, averaging 14.0 points and 2.5 rebounds with a 42.9 3-point shooting percentage. Roach, who was the last remaining active Duke player coached by Mike Krzyzewski, also earned third-team All-ACC honors for the 2023-24 season.

Drexel F Amari Williams to Kentucky

New Kentucky coach Mark Pope added to his roster on Sunday, nabbing Williams, a three-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year winner. Williams was also named first-team All-CAA the last two seasons, averaging 12.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game in 2023-24.

Wisconsin G Connor Essegian to Nebraska

Auburn G Tre Donaldson to Michigan

Dusty May landed another sought-after transfer, getting a commitment from Donaldson on Sunday. The sophomore averaged 6.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game this past season.

Stanford G Kanaan Carlyle to Indiana

The sophomore guard announced his commitment to the Hoosiers on Sunday. A former top-50 recruit, the 6-foot-3 playmaker averaged 11.5 points per game during his freshman season.

Indiana State C Robbie Avila to St. Louis

The Sycamores star announced that he's leaving Indiana State for St. Louis. Last season, Avila averaged 17.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.

Auburn G Aden Holloway to Alabama

After spending his freshman season with the Tigers, with whom he averaged 7.3 points per game, the former five-star recruit crosses fierce rivalry lines to head to Tuscaloosa and join a Crimson Tide team that just reached the Final Four.

Yale F Danny Wolf to Michigan

Wolf had a breakout sophomore season for the Bulldogs, averaging a team-high 14.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, one steal and 1.3 blocks per game. Yale upset No. 4 Auburn as a No. 13 seed in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last month in a game where Wolf had 13 points, five rebounds and three assists.

San Diego State G Micah Parrish to Ohio State

Parrish, a senior, joins his third collegiate team, as he spent his first two seasons at Oakland and the previous two at San Diego State, including on the Aztecs squad that made the 2023 national championship game. Last season, he averaged 9.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.

Duke F Mark Mitchell to Missouri

The former five-star recruit has committed to Mizzou for the 2024-25 season. The 6-foot-7 former McDonald's All-American averaged 11.6 points and 6.0 rebounds this season. Mitchell was a two-year starter with Duke, playing in 68 games with the program.

Wisconsin G Chucky Hepburn

Hepburn, who is one of the top point guards in the Big Ten, is hitting the transfer portal after spending the past three seasons at Wisconsin. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 9.2 points and 3.2 assists per game this past season for the Badgers.

Wisconsin G AJ Storr to Kansas

For the second straight year, Bill Self has landed a big transfer from a Big Ten school. Storr, a 6-foot-7 guard, is transferring to Kansas, he told multiple outlets on Thursday. The former Wisconsin standout was a second-team All-Big Ten selection and was one of FOX Sports' John Fanta's top 10 players in the transfer portal after scoring a team-high 16.8 points per game this past season.

Storr exited Wisconsin one year after transferring from St. John's

Michigan F Tarris Reed to UConn

Reed, a 6-foot-10 sophomore, is jumping from the Wolverines to join the two-time defending national champs. Reed averaged 9.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this past season. He'll provide a frontcourt bump for the Huskies, who are losing big man Donovan Clingan to the NBA Draft.

Former Arizona C Oumar Ballo to Indiana

Arguably the best remaining player in the portal left the former Pac-12 school for the Big Ten, joining Indiana. Last season, Ballo averaged 12.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game for a Wildcats team that reached the Sweet 16. The two-time All-Pac-12 honoree and super senior joins a Hoosiers team that missed the NCAA Tournament last season.

Former Oklahoma State F Eric Dailey Jr. to UCLA

After spending his freshman season in Stillwater, Dailey is off to L.A. to play for the Bruins, he announced. Last season, Dailey averaged 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for the Cowboys, who missed the NCAA Tournament.

Former Arizona G Kylan Boswell to Illinois

Boswell, a former five-star prospect, marked one of Tommy Lloyd's biggest recruiting victories when he committed to Arizona. In 2023-24, his first season as Arizona's starting point guard, Boswell averaged 9.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists, but struggled in the NCAA Tournament after a 20-point first-round performance against Long Beach State, scoring just five points total over the next two games as Arizona was upset by Clemson in the Sweet 16. His decision to leave for Illinois marks a homecoming for Boswell, who is about to turn 19 years old. Boswell grew up in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, before moving to Southern California after eighth grade to further his basketball development.

Former Kentucky PF/C Aaron BradshawtoOhio State

Bradshaw announced on social media he would commit to Ohio State, marking the first major portal get for new Buckeyes head coach Jake Diebler and the first among those leaving Kentucky after the departure of John Calipari to find a new home. The 7-foot-1 Bradshaw was a consensus five-star and top-five overall recruit in the class of 2023. He was also a McDonald's All-American in his senior year of high school. Bradshaw played in 26 games during his true freshman season, starting 10 of them, and averaged 4.9 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Kentucky guard D.J. Wagner

A 6-foot-3, former 5-star recruit out of Camden, N.J., Wagner is jumping into the portal in the wake of head coach John Calipari opting to move on to Arkansas. Wagner started 28 games in his freshman season, averaging 9.9 points, 3.3 assists and 0.8 steals per game. He shot 41% from the field, but just 29% from 3-point range.

The former McDonald's All-American is the son of former Memphis star DaJuan Wagner. The younger Wagner is open to returning to Kentucky and plans to meet with new Wildcats coach Mark Pope, according to 247Sports

Former Furman G JP Pegues to Auburn

Pegues, one of the top guards in the transfer portal, will head to Auburn to play for coach Bruce Pearl next season. Pegues averaged 18.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists last season for the Paladins and has one year of eligibility remaining.

Indiana State C Robbie Avila

Avila became a viral sensation as the star of one of the best Indiana State teams since the days of Larry Bird, leading the Sycamores to the NIT title game after they narrowly and somewhat controversially were one of the last teams left out of the NCAA tournament. Avila averaged 17.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists in his breakout 2023-24 season. Avila is reportedly likely to follow former Indiana State coach Josh Schertz to Saint Louis, where Schertz took the head coaching job after the season.

USC F Kobe Johnson to UCLA

Johnson posted a photo of himself in a UCLA uniform on social media on April 4 after putting his name in the transfer portal on March 22. The 6-foot-6 junior guard averaged 10.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 steals this season at USC, where he was a two-time All-Pac-12 Defensive Team selection. He started 28 of 31 games while shooting 40% from the floor and 31% from 3-point range.

Utah G Rollie Worster

Worster, a soon-to-be fifth-year senior, spent the past three seasons at Utah. He averaged 9.9 points, 5.5 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game this season, but that was cut short after 16 games due to a leg injury.

Kentucky G Adou Thiero

Thiero entered the portal after his sophomore season, which saw him average 7.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.

Oklahoma State F Eric Dailey

Dailey entered the portal after his freshman season, one that saw Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton get fired after seven seasons. The young forward averaged 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this season.

James Madison G Terrence Edwards

Edwards spent the first four seasons of his collegiate career with the Dukes, who reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament this season. He led James Madison in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game. That said, its head coach, Mark Byington, left shortly after being eliminated to become Vanderbilt's new head coach.

Iowa F Patrick McCaffery

McCaffery, son of Hawkeyes coach Fran McCaffery, has entered the transfer portal, the school confirmed Wednesday.

Patrick McCaffery has one year of eligibility remaining after starting 60 of 123 games. He was a starter for the first half of the 2023-24 season, averaged 8.9 points per game and scored a team-high 19 in the Hawkeyes' loss at Utah in the NIT on Sunday.

McCaffery, who took 2019-20 as a redshirt season, spent his first three years in the program with his older brother, Connor. Fran McCaffery, 64, said last month that he has no plans to retire. Connor McCaffery, who graduated last year, now works for the NBA's Indiana Pacers but remains close to Iowa in large part because his girlfriend is Hawkeyes women's basketball star Caitlin Clark.

Pepperdine F Michael Ajayi to Gonzaga

Ajayi announced on Tuesday that he is transferring from the Waves to West Coast Conference rival Gonzaga. The 6-foot-7 wing was first-team All-WCC after averaging 17.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. He was also a terrific threat from the outside, averaging 47% shooting from 3-point range. Ajayi was at Pepperdine for one season, leaving after the firing of coach Lorenzo Romar.

South Carolina G Meechie Johnson

Johnson was the leading scorer of a Gamecocks team that surprised many outside observers by making its first NCAA tournament appearance in seven years in 2024. He averaged a team-high 14.1 points per game along with 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists in his second year at South Carolina after the Cleveland native spent his first two collegiate seasons at Ohio State. The Buckeyes' NIL collective posted a response to the news of Johnson's portal entry Monday, perhaps hinting at a reunion under new head coach Jake Diebler.

Rhode Island G Ray Allen III

The son of former NBA All-Star Ray Allen, the 6-foot-1 freshman guard saw just one game of action for the Rams this past season, scoring two points.

Louisville G Mike James

James, an Orlando, Fla., native, averaged 12.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game in 2023. He is expected to be among a number of departures from the Cardinals following the dismissal of head coach Kenny Payne.

Providence PFs Rafael Castro and Donovan Santoro

Neither Castro nor Santoro saw heavy minutes for Providence in head coach Kim English's first season at the helm.

Former Louisville G Skyy Clark to UCLA

The LA native will be back home after entering the portal following Payne's aforementioned departure from Louisville. After spending his freshman season at Illinois, Clark averaged 13.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game for the Cardinals in 2023-24.

Nebraska Gs Eli Rice and Ramel Lloyd Jr.

Both backup guards are in the transfer portal shortly after the Cornhuskers' return to the NCAA Tournament was spoiled by an opening-round exit. Rice played 17 games for Nebraska and averaged 4.2 points per game, while Lloyd missed the entire season due to injury.

Xavier Fs Abou Ousmane and Saša Ciani

Ousmane averaged 6.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in his first year with Xavier after three seasons at North Texas. Ciani averaged 2.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game in his freshman season for Sean Miller's squad.

Former Virginia Tech G Rodney Rice to Maryland

The guard, who did not play for the Hokies past the first eight games of his freshman season, is headed back up north to Maryland, where he will play closer to home.

New Mexico G Jamal Mashburn Jr.

The son and namesake of Kentucky legend Jamal Mashburn was a key part of Richard Pitino's Lobos teams over the past three seasons, averaging 18.2, 19.1 and 14.1 points per game after following Pitino from Minnesota via the transfer portal. Now, he becomes one of the most accomplished guards in the current portal.

Penn State G Jameel Brown

Brown averaged 10.1 minutes per game over 27 games for the Nittany Lions this season, posting 4.0 points per game.

Stanford G/F Andrej Stojaković

The son of former NBA star Peja Stojaković and former five-star recruit is known for being a prolific shooter like his father was. Stojaković averaged 7.8 points per game as a freshman for the Cardinal this past season.

Michigan G Dug McDaniel

McDaniel, the former four-star class of 2022 recruit who led the Wolverines in scoring this past season, is the first major entrant into the transfer portal following the dismissal of Michigan head coach Juwan Howard at the end of a dismal 2022-23 campaign for the team. McDaniel averaged 16.3 points per game, 4.7 assists per game and 3.7 rebounds per game. A Washington, D.C.-area native, McDaniel is expected to draw interest from hometown schools such as Georgetown and Maryland.

Cal G Devin Askew

Askew will be looking to play at his fourth college program with two years of eligibility remaining. He missed most of the past season due to a foot injury but averaged 15.5 points per game the year prior before a season-ending sports hernia injury in January 2023. Askew previously played at Kentucky and Texas for one season each.
