Uchiyama retains WBA super featherweight title

Takashi Uchiyama of Japan successfully defended his WBA super featherweight title by stopping Venezuelan challenger Angel Granados by technical knockout.

Uchiyama sent Granados to the canvas with a right to the jaw in the sixth round at Saitama Super Arena on Monday. Granados got to his feet but the referee stopped the bout after 1 minute, 42 seconds.

Uchiyama improved to 15-0 with 12 knockouts after his first title defense. Granados fell to 18-9.
