Tajbert retains WBC super featherweight title

Vitali Tajbert of Germany retained his WBC super featherweight title with a unanimous technical decision over Hector Velazquez of Mexico on Saturday.

The judge stopped the fight after the ninth round because of a bleeding cut over Tajbert's right eye. Tajbert was hurt by an accidental head butt by Velazquez in the second round.

The German led the judges' scores by 88-83, 87-83 and 88-82 and improved to 19-1. Velazquez dropped to 51-15-2.
