Lennox Lewis' former promoter returns to sport after sex change

The boxing promoter behind Lennox Lewis' rise to becoming world heavyweight champion is returning to the sport after undergoing a sex change.

Kellie Maloney announced Thursday she is resuming her career as a promoter and has taken on two unheralded British fighters.

Under her previous name, Frank, Maloney was Lewis' promoter as the British fighter won heavyweight titles in the 1990s and early 2000s. Maloney also took Paul Ingle and Scott Harrison to world titles.

Maloney says, ''I've got to start at the bottom again and there's no getting away from that. The opportunity and personal challenge for me is very big.''

Maloney ended a 30-year career in 2013, handing back licences to the British Boxing Board of Control after growing disillusioned with the sport.
