'Fearless Fred,' 69, fends off robbers
Two armed robbers ran into the wrong guy when they targeted a shop in Australia — a former Olympic boxer called 'Fearless Fred.'
The 69-year-old Fred Casey — a 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games veteran and Australian heavyweight champion known as 'Fearless Fred' — grabbed a golf club and took on the intruders.
Casey was in the Seaway Jetty and Kiosk on Main Beach, in Queensland's Gold Coast, when the masked pair, armed with a hammer and knife, burst in late Tuesday.
He was cut on the head and hand during the struggle but wrestled the hammer away from the robbers before they fled empty-handed.
"He got a few in," kiosk manager Ray Balkin said.
