Adrien Broner appears to threaten suicide in disturbing social media messages
27-year-old boxer Adrien Broner, who spent 30 days in jail earlier this year for contempt of court while facing charges of felonious assault and aggravated robbery, posted a series of disturbing messages on Twitter and Instagram Wednesday, seemingly with the intent to commit suicide.
Broner wrote on Instagram that at "“3PM I’m doing it I’m sorry to my family and friends but I don’t want to be here no more this [expletive] too much.”
Broner's legal trouble stemmed from an alleged assault and robbery in Cincinnati on January 21st. ESPN reported that all charges against Broner were dropped in September.
Broner is a former world champion in multiple divisions, and was once the protege of Floyd Mayweather Jr. prior to a public fallout. Broner's fiancee, Arie Nicole, posted on Snapchat following Broner's posts that "Adrien is okay!" Fox19 in Cincinnati reports that Broner was unaware of the messages.
Pray for my guy @AdrienBroner going through a tough time. You got eight little ones that need their father. Harm to yourself won't solve it.
